Mens Auxiliary - History
History - Men's Auxiliary VFW

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives of millions through its community service programs and special projects. From providing free phone cards to the nation's active-duty military personnel to raising money for the World War II memorial, the VFW is there.

Membership in the VFW nationwide has declined over the past decade. In 1992, there were 2.1 million VFW members in the United States. During 2002, the organization had about 1.8 million regular members and about 700,000 members in its Ladies Auxiliaries.

In June 2002, VFW Post 9785 members made a motion to amend its by-laws and sponsor its own Men's Auxiliary. The motion carried, with 100% of the members present voting in favor. On August 13th, 2003, the VFW Post 9785 Men's Auxiliary was officially chartered.
