(2/17/12 –Friday) Please join ALR 45 (Junction City) for a Chili & Soup Feed Friday, 17 Feb., 5:00PM – 8:00PM. All you can eat for $6 at the door or $5 in advance. (For advance tickets, call Tony at 785-209-0375 or email ttechusa@cox.net  there will be Chili, Soup, Cornbread, Etc. There will be entertainment by “Mended Wings”. Join us at 201 E. 4th St. in Junction City. All proceeds go to support the Annual Run for the Wall.
 
(2/18/12-Saturday) ALR 401 (Wichita) join us for a Valentine Dance with the “Powder River Band”. Price is $10 at the door. Starts at 6PM with dinner off the menu with extra cost for the dinner. Band starts at 8PM until midnight. We would like to invite all; any questions call 316-617-0621
 
(2/18/12 –Saturday) ALR 22 (Marion). Please come and join us to show your support and appreciation .This event will be held at the VFW Post in Marion, Ks. at 3 PM. Staging will be at the Eastmoor United Methodist Church at 105 Eastmoor Drive, Marion, Ks. at 2:30 PM for signing of the Flag. We will have a Police & Local Highway Patrol escort from the church through downtown Marion to the VFW Post. If the weather is bad we can’t ride our motorcycles, we will stage at the American Legion Post 22 located at 424 E. Main at 2:30 PM. (2/18/12-Saturday) ALR 225 (Ozawkie) please join us for a “Welcome Home” for 1SGT Dennis Crump. Mission is at Free State High School at 9:30AM on the north east side of school. Staging will start at 8:30AM at Wal-Mart at 6th & Wakarusa; this is on the west side of town. Briefing will be at 9:15AM at the school. You can take your cage on this one. It will be a walking Flag Line, the mission will start at 9:30, it will not last long but we do need everyone we can get to attend. Ozawkie Post 225 will bring the Flags and a “Welcome Home” Flag for 1 SGT Dennis Crump. Dennis has been in the US Army over 20 Years. He was with the first group in Iraq & will be one of the last to leave. Dennis will be here for two weeks and then he will be sent to Afghanistan, so if you can help Thank- You. (*)(2/18/12-Saturday) ALR 81 (Eldorado). The family of Virgil George Sawyer has requested us for a Flag Line at his memorial service. The service is at Kirby Morris Funeral Home, 224 West Ash, Eldorado, Ks. at 2PM. (behind the courthouse on Central). The Flag Line is at 1PM at Kirby-Morris with Craig Samp as the Flag Line Capt. Virgil served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He is the Uncle of ALR 81 members Ray & Terri Allen. Please contact Craig Samp or Terrie Cook if you have questions. Hope to see as many people as can be there to show our support to the Family.
  
(*)(2/19/12-Sunday) Please join ALR 273 (Wichita) 1335 N. Hydraulic in Celebrating Black History Month as ALR 273 Salutes the Buffalo Soldiers. There will be a social mixer beginning at 6PM; food will be available starting around 7:30PM for a donation of $5 at the door. The new Officers will be sworn in around 8PM
 
(2/20/12-Monday) ALR 256 (Wichita) invites all ALR to set up Flags at the VA Hospital in Wichita (5500 East Kellogg) Meet at the VA at 7:20AM and we will set up Flags at 7:30AM. 
 
(*)(2/22/12- Wednesday) ALR 136 (Mulvane) invites all ALR to help us in Welcoming Home SPC Christopher Ferguson, US Army, from a one year deployment to Africa, at 6:00PM at Post 136. (2/25/12- Saturday) ALR 68 (Hutchinson) invites all to a chili fundraiser at the American Legion Post 68, 730 W. 4th, for SPC Randy Donovan from 5-7pm.Randy is a soldier from Hutchinson who was hit by an IED blast in Afghanistan right before Thanksgiving last year. From the blast, Randy had a broken back, jaw, and elbow. All proceeds will go to Randy and his wife. Randy is currently in San Antonio hoping to be transferred to Fort Riley soon to be closer to home.  $5 for the first bowl of chili, free will donation for additional bowl, $1 cinnamon rolls. (3/17/12 –Saturday) Please join ALR 192 (Canton) for their” Annual Stew Cook Off”. Registration is $5, and we would like to have all registrations in by March 1st. A large Crockpot is all it takes for the Cook Off. Come help us celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day and have some fun and camaraderie with family and friends. (3/17/12-Saturday) ALR 4 (Wichita) please put on some green and join ALR 4 for the Wichita St. Patrick’s Day Parade We will. Stage at Post 4,816 N. Water @ 1030 with KSU at 1045 for the parade staging area at Lawrence Dumont Parking lot. The parade starts @ 1200 at the Arkansas River and proceeds west on Douglass through the Delano District to Walnut. (4/14/12-Saturday) Please join ALR 408 (Derby) for their 5th Annual Auction (Fundraiser) from 6:00pm to? Many items to choose from and will be sold to the highest bidder. All proceeds will benefit Veteran’s and their families. (All you can eat Sloppy Joes & fixing’s for $6.00 (suggest donation). Dinner served at 5:00PM, auction begins at 6:00PM. This is ALR 408’s largest fundraiser of the year.

(4/28/12- Saturday) ALR 129 (Lyons) please join us for our Annual Fundraiser. We will have a dinner and an Auction. More information will follow as we get things set. Hope you can come support our ALR and our Veterans programs.

(5/12/12-Saturday) ALR 421  (Topeka) we are hosting our 1st Annual Poker Run for the Ft. Riley Warrior Transition Battalion – Family Guidance Center in Topeka, Ks. This event will begin at 0800 hours with breakfast and displays at the Eagle’s Nest Topeka Harley Davidson Shop at 21st & Topeka, where you can register for the event. There will be many evens taking place and plenty to eat with the ride taking off at 1030 hours on a beautiful route throughout rural Kansas and back to Topeka where we will end at Hooters restaurant near 10th & Wanamaker. Pre-registration will be for any donation, but suggested is $15 for rider and $10 for extra hands, whether on bike or in cage! The day of the event is suggested to donate $20/$15. We welcome all that wish to support our wounded warriors. If you would like to help in the planning and execution of this event, contact us and we will get you involved. (5/21/12—Monday) ALR 41 (Tonganoxie) Rolling Thunder support Flag Line, County Road 1Leavenworth County and I-70. Staging will be at 9AM at Elle’s Diner in Tonganoxie, KSU at 0930. On station prior to 10AM, The Flag Line will last until Rolling Thunder completes their passage past this point in their trip.
 
(5/28/12-Monday) ALR 41 (Tonganoxie) Legacy Poker Run. We will be visiting memorials in and around Northeast Kansas; we will have more information as to routes and times in the near future.
 
(6-2012) ALR 81 (Eldorado) join us as we will be hosting the “Host Chapter Event” for the month of June. Exact date and time will be coming out soon.
 
(*)(6/02/12-Saturday) ALR 242 (Nortonville). We will be holding our 7th Annual Spring Ride. Save the date, more information to follow.
 
(6/03/12-Sunday)ALR 81 (Eldorado) please join us we will be the “Host Chapter Event” this month. We will be serving burgers at 11:30AM-2PM with socializing afterwards.
 
(6/09/12-Saturday) ALR 31 (Rossville) please join us at the American Legion Post 31 in Rossville, Ks for a Poker Run. to help raise money for the Soldiers and Family Members of the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Riley, Ks. Everyday, Soldiers who are recently MEDEVAC’D from Iraq or Afghanistan need a helping hand for food and lodging for their families while they are undergoing medical treatment at Fort Riley. $20 suggested donation per hand / $10 suggested donation per passenger.9:00AM to 11:30AM, KSU for Poker Run at 12:00. After the run, food and auction

(7/04/12-Wednesday) ALR 408 (Derby) please join ALR 408 on Wednesday July 4th for the July 4th Independence Day Parade – begins at 10:00AM. We will stage at AL Post 408 at 9:00AM, AIS to parade staging location at 9:15AM. ALR will begin the parade with a ride through (5-10MPH). Flags on bikes. At end of parade route will dismount and salute the colors as they pass. RC is Clyde Wittsell.

(8/15/12 –Wednesday) ALR 41 (Tonganoxie) invites ALR to their Poker Run. This will benefit Veteran’s Programs. More information will be coming soon.
 
(8/25/12 –Saturday) ALR 41 (Tonganoxie). Grammies for Mammies Bike Show. This is an all day event. Judging will be in the afternoon with trophies for the winners. Classes of bikes are Custom, Cruiser, and Touring, other (trikes, antiques and anything that does not fit in the other categories).

Kimber .45 Drawing Feb 15

Operation Freedom Memorial will draw the winner for the Kimber .45 Raffle at 6pm during the Wednesday Burger Burn on Feb 15th. Winner need not be present to win. Some consolation prizes will be drawn and awarded to raffle ticket holders who are present.

VFW 7253 is hosting a "Thanksgiving Dinner" this Sunday at 4 PM OPEN to all American Legion & VFW members and their families at 4:00 PM Nov 20, 2011 When I asked what we would could furnish, I was advised to say "HELP" Steve (Mad Daddy) needs help Sat, 19 Nov at noon to carve turkeys and also Sunday, if you can help on Sunday please do - be at Post 1:00 PM .
